Demo and Mini Workshop by Candice Goodwin

Candice Goodwin has been showing professionally in the Southeast Texas area for over ten years. One style does not define her work. On any given day Candice may be found at the studio creating through several different methods. From collage & decollage, abstract painting, textural pieces, wall & freestanding sculptures, to light boxes, she is always reaching to create outside the normal.

In her quest to generate unusually shaped works, Candice manipulates canvas, screening or other materials, then layers them with luminescent paints. The hues are acquired from the natural and unnatural such as floral & fauna, forestry, volcanoes, fires, oil slicks. In other efforts, wooden panels are conjoined and layered with found objects and mixed media. One of Candice’s favorite technique: distinctive texturing, invites viewers to touch. When she crafts light boxes, she encompasses textures, layering, photographs, philosophical writings & images.

When not in the studio, Candice is an avid amateur nature photographer, carrying a camera with her at all times.

Candice is a member of BCCKT Collaborative – a five member artistic group that meets once a week. In those sessions, collaborative works, as well as individual pieces, are created & critiqued.

Candice spent many years as the Education Chair of the Art League Houston Board of Directors and volunteers throughout the art community, currently at Lawndale Art Center. In 2010 Candice joined Guiton Street Artists, Studio 212, 4848 Guiton Street, Houston, TX.
